Firefly introduces MahaDewa Live in Johor Bahru
Firefly, Your Community Airline, is connecting communities through a rock concert this November.
MahaDewa Live In Johor Bahru will be held on 19 November 2011 at Stadium Larkin Johor Bahru (also known as Stadium Tan Sri Dato Haji Hassan Yunos) from 8pm onwards.
MahaDewa, a spin-off of Dewa 19, is one of the most successful bands in Indonesia. Ahmad Dhani, the former lead vocalist of Dewa 19 is one of the founding members of MahaDewa. He has since moved on since after leaving Dewa 19 and Mahadewa is his latest ‘project’.
Firefly’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Angelina Corrina Fernandez, said, “We know the rock group, MahaDewa and its lead singer, Ahmad Dhani, has a large following among Malaysians, Indonesians and Singaporeans which is why we are organising this concert. We expect a crowd of about 10,000.
“Johor Bahru, with its close proximity to neighbouring Singapore and its easy access to Indonesia, is an ideal location to hold this concert as we want to attract MahaDewa fans from these countries, besides those residing in Johor and other parts of Malaysia.
“We chose to have this concert at Stadium Larkin, Johor Bahru to make it easily accessible to all Malaysians, including those from East Malaysia as we have twice daily flights from Johor Bahru to Kota Kinabalu and twice daily flights from Johor Bahru to Kuching. We also want to encourage our neighbours in Singapore and Indonesia to extend their stay in Johor and to visit the many varied tourist attractions there such as the city of Johor Bahru, pristine beaches and the many golf courses and spas in the state. Hence we have also come out with Firefly Holiday packages to Johor which is inclusive of a concert ticket, a return flight ticket and accommodation based on twin share, to take the hassle out of extending your holiday in Johor.”
The concert in November is also timely in the wake of Firefly’s upcoming connections between Johor Bahru and the two cities of Surabaya and Bandung in Indonesia.
Firefly will fly four times weekly between Johor Bahru and Surabaya from August 14 and three times weekly between Johor Bahru and Bandung from August 16.
